Go slowly
If you are recently single after a long relationship, now isn’t the time to get deeply involved with another person. While you may want to casually date, consider that you have not had the time you need to recover from a breakup. Even if you think you are ready to meet the love of your life, take it slowly. Getting involved with someone right after a breakup is never recommended because you are still dealing with the emotions associated with your previous partner. Take the time you need to deal with your emotional state after a breakup before you get overly involved with another person.
Be honest
If you have just broken up with another person and you have started dating again, be honest with your new date that you are recently single. While this might not make great conversation, letting a new person into your life should begin with honesty. Establishing that you are recently single will only show that you are being clear that you may have some baggage left over from your previous relationship. If you want to start over with someone else, be honest from the beginning and you will be able to establish a good sense of trust between the two of you.
Reflect on Your Own Mistakes
It takes two people to make a relationship go well, and it takes two to make it go sour. As you consider getting back into the dating market, take some time to reflect on what you would change about your previous relationship. You made mistakes, and now is the time to think about what you could have done differently before you make the same mistakes again with a new person. The more you reflect on your part in a relationship falling apart, the more ready you will be for a future with another person.
