If you want to date a cougar or are doing so, you’re lucky. After all, there are a lot more younger guys–called “cubs”–out there than cougars. As a result, the chances of beating out the competition to win the heart of a cougar are considerably less than with a woman your age, but the rewards are much greater, so it’s worth the effort. Those odds as well as the rewards make reading and taking notes of this article more than worth your time.
* Know how to approach. To a great extent, approaching a cougar is easier than approaching a woman your own age since cougars are normally more receptive to your approach even when they’re not interested in taking you up on anything. A lot of your approach depends on whether she is wearing a wedding ring, but even that will not preclude you from making an approach. And as everyone knows, just because she is wearing a ring doesn’t make it a wedding ring. Try not to start with a compliment. Every guy does that, and that approach makes it easy for her to say, “Thanks.” and avoid further interaction with you. Instead, notice what she is eating or drinking and ask if it’s any good. Also remember that cougars won’t pay much attention to any guy who won’t invest some effort in their approach.
* Ask for a number. After you have gotten her attention, say something like, “Maybe we could go out sometime” or “I’d love to chat again,” then ask “Can I get your number?” If she is interested, she will give it to you. If not, that will be her excuse.
If you have met your cougar online, after you have traded three or four emails, ask her for her number. Again, if she is receptive, she will give it to you. If not, she won’t This technique, whether in person or online, works wonders and saves a lot of time.
* Make a fun first date. Just because you are looking to impress an older woman, doesn’t mean you should worry about taking her to someplace like the opera or a play. One of the reasons she’s interested in younger men is that she has more energy than men her age. As a result, you shouldn’t worry about sophistication. Worry instead about her having a good time. If she does, you will be seeing a lot more of her in the future.
* Keep her happy. As nebulous as such advice might seem, it’s really not. Instead, it’s another way of saying that you should avoid all of the usual games that younger men play on women their age. Head games, lies, trying to teach her something. Cougars have had it all before, and they didn’t like it. Instead, be honest and straight forward with them. Tell her the truth. And finally, be just as open with teaching her what you know as learning what she knows. All of this will make a very positive impression on your cougar.
