Should You Ask Out a Co-Worker?
Back in the old days, most companies had specific policies that guarded against co-workers dating. Human resources monitored those kind of infractions very carefully so that there wasn’t any hanky panky on the job that could reflect poorly on the company. You had to conduct your relationship with them on the sly, not letting anyone know or your job might be in jeopardy. Nowadays, companies have relaxed this rule a little, and while it’s mostly frowned upon behind closed corporate doors co-workers are still entertaining intimate relationships with each other. So should you go ahead, take the plunge, and ask out a co-worker you are attracted to? Here are ten questions you should ask yourself.
10.Would you mind seeing that person everyday if it didn’t go well, five days a week, 8 hours a day at the very least?
9.What if it went really badly and now this person is in love with you and won’t leave you alone at work…can you handle an office stalker?
8.What if they tell all your co-workers some of your deep dark secrets that you revealed on a date or during a night of passion, do you want everyone to know your junk size?
7.Are you prepared to make yourself up everyday to look good for this person, because there isn’t anymore just rolling out of bed and heading to work?
6.Are you going to be distracted by work with your daily interactions with them?
5.Are you ready to be the office gossip topic of the week, because you will be the water cooler topic du jour?
4.If you break up, can you face this person everyday and still be friendly or are you going to want to trash them on Facebook?
3.Are you the boss? You shouldn’t date your employees that’s not even a question!
2.Have you checked your company’s specific policy about inter office dating since it actually might be in a contract you signed?
1.Are you so totally madly in love with your co-worker that you can’t see not asking them out?
Oh just go for it. In today’s world, you are going to spend quite a bit of your time at work so you might as well have some fun while you’re there. How else are you going to find a date? Bars and online dating only provide so much in the way of interesting prospects. At least if you date someone at work they understand what you do in your work life on a day to day basis. Inter office relationships keep thing a little more interesting while you are punching the clock, and inputting all those number in your computer while in your little cubicle. You might as well have some fun with a co-worker!
