It’s no secret that some men believe that condoms dull the sensation of sex. These same men may try to forego wearing a condom by coming up with various excuses or playing into myths that simply aren’t true. If you hear a man tell you that condoms always break on him or that he doesn’t have any, don’t give in. Doing so can be dangerous to your health. Here are five other condom myths and lies that you need to know to stay safe sexually and prevent STDs and unwanted pregnancy. If you hear these, don’t fall for them.
5. Condoms Damage Circulation
Actually, condoms do not have any effect on a man’s circulation. If a man feels like the condom is too tight, he can always look into buying bigger condoms. However, condoms are generally intended to fit and, if worn properly, don’t harm penis circulation at all. Therefore, if you hear a man tell you this before you hop into bed, tell him to go buy some bigger condoms. This excuse won’t hold up.
4. Condoms Aren’t Necessary with Other Birth Control
You have made the smart decision to take other birth control, such as oral pills or regular injections. However, that doesn’t mean that you can skip the condoms. If you’re in a committed, long-term relationship and want to talk about quitting condoms at some point, you of course can. However, if you’re starting a new sexual relationship, now is not the time to forego condoms. While pills or injections can prevent pregnancy, they can’t protect you from STDS or STIs.
3. Condoms Aren’t Necessary if You’re Clean
Your new sexual partner has told you that he’s clean and therefore you don’t need to use a condom. This is a big excuse that you shouldn’t risk your health on. While yes, your partner may very well be clean after having been recently tested, unless you were there with him, you have no way of knowing if he’s being upfront. Push for condoms or don’t sleep with him in this situation. It’s too risky otherwise.
2. Condoms Don’t Feel as Good
Many men will claim that wearing a condom while having sex doesn’t feel as good as not using one. However, with so many condoms on the market, a man can find a thinner condom that still protects against pregnancy and STDs but doesn’t feel as cumbersome. Besides, condoms do have benefits, such as increasing the longevity of sex by preventing quick male ejaculation. That makes everyone happier.
1. No Condom Fits
This is probably the most blatant condom lie that there is. As mentioned, condoms exist for all penis sizes, so even if your man happens to be on the bigger size, he can still find a condom that works. For the sake of your own health and future, don’t fall into a lie like this.
