New York City has a great reputation for being a great vacation spot for adults, but it is also the perfect place for kids to experience as well. Whether your family prefers strolling through museums, picnicking in a beautiful park or window shopping at some of the best toy shops in the country, there is something for everyone and every budget in New York City. You will be amazed at all of the fun things to do with kids in NYC and to help get you started, here are four must do things for your family trip to NYC.

Bronx Zoo

The Bronx Zoo is the worlds largest urban zoo. There are more than 4000 animals living in the 265 acre park, which includes natural habitats and overlooks the Bronx River. Some of exhibits include the congo gorilla forest, tiger mountain, world of birds, mouse house and the Wild Asia monorail. Young children will love the carousel and the camel rides. Wednesday is suggested donation day, so families on a tight budget can pay whatever price they want for admission to the zoo. The zoo is located at 2300 South Boulevard, Bronx, New York. Zoo hours are Monday through Friday from 10am until 5pm and Saturday through Sunday from 10am until 5:30pm.

Children’s Museum of the Arts
The Children’s Museum of Art is a great way for kids to spend the day participating in hands-on art experience. The gallery includes a variety of workshops, such as the Media Lab and Sound Booth that gives kids the opportunity to learn about creating films, doing voice-overs and film appreciation. The Fine Arts Studio is the perfect place for kids to make their own take home keepsake or kids can visit the drop-in Clay Bar where they have access to a wide range of art supplies. The Children’s Museum of Art is located at 103 Charlton Street, New York, NY. The museum hours are Monday and Wednesday from 12pm until 5pm, Thursday and Friday from 12pm until 6pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 5pm. On Thursdays from 4pm until 6pm, it is pay as you wish day.



Toys R US
Kids of all ages (and most adults) will have a blast at the 3-story Toys R Us toy store located in the center of Times Square. Inside the Toys R Us is a Ferris wheel, which has different seat options, such as a school bus, pink Barbie Cadillac or a cozy coupe. There are several interactive activities inside the 10,000 square foot toy store, including a life-size Barbie dollhouse, a 20-foot T-Rex dinosaur and boutiques with the hottest toys. Toys R Us is located at 1514 Broadway at 44th Street, New York, NY. The store hours are Sunday through Thursday from 9am until 11pm, Friday from 9am until midnight and Saturday from 8am until midnight.

Central Park
A visit to New York isn’t complete without going to Central Park. Central Park first opened in the mid-1800’s and has about 25 million visitors each year. The park is 843 acres activities for kids and kids at heart. Some of the activities available include the Central Park Zoo, which includes exhibits such as a rain forest, polar bear pool and snow leopards, 21 playgrounds and carriage rides. Central Park is located from 59th Street to 110th Streets (between Fifth Ave. & Central Park West) and the park is open daily from 6am until 1am.


There are also the must see tourist attractions, such as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Each season there are unique exhibits, broadway shows and events that are available only in New York City, so be sure to check the cities official website before traveling, so you don’t miss any of the events while you are in town.
